Chapter 3 Stigma Newsletter - March 1st, 2023
The release of my story, a personal milestone, a social giveaway to celebrate the launch Chapter 3 Stigma and big plans for May.
Happy Friday all!
I appreciate every single one of you for following along so early in the journey of Chapter 3 Stigma. My goal is to be consistent in sending these newsletters out every Friday. The content, layout and length is subject to change as I hear back from you about what is most meaningful and impactful.
My vision for the Chapter 3 Stigma podcast is that one day, someone who is feeling at an all time low will get forwarded this newsletter from a loved one with a note saying, “I know it is difficult to hear from me, so maybe hearing someone else’s story can help”. I know during my story my family and friends approached me about my struggles with alcoholism and I rejected them all. It wasn’t until I sat down with a complete stranger and heard of his struggles that my willingness to accept my alcoholism really expanded.
Highlights for the Week
The most important thing that happened this week was my wife and I passed the two month milestone of losing our daughter, Lucy. Not a moment goes by without her on my mind or in our hearts. She showed us what we are capable of, which in a large way led to the creation of Chapter 3 Stigma. Love you forever Lucy.
Podcast released on Thursday - Episode 3: My Story - Crossing the Threshold: This podcast contains some of the most important information I learned during my time in recovery about what drives individuals to become addicts and alcoholics. I never understood why I struggled with alcoholism until I discovered the three forces that can push one over the threshold, and I was able to deeply connect with each one of them in my life to truly understand how I had become an alcoholic.
We celebrated the launch of Chapter 3 Stigma with a partnership giveaway with our friends at MTNTOUGH Fitness. For those who haven’t seen, I appeared on their podcast back in November and Dustin’s question about what I would recommend to people struggling with alcoholism was the genesis of Chapter 3 Stigma.
Finally - May is Mental Health awareness month. As you will learn as content continues to get published, I disagree with the language we use as it pertains to Mental Health. It is a start, and at least we as a society are starting to talk about it, but I believe there is a much deeper and meaningful way to think about overall wellness and wellbeing that gives you more measurable insight into how you are doing and progressing in your life. More to come on this one!
Feel free to reach out through any channels with questions or comments. I’d love to hear your feedback and definitely forward this newsletter on to anyone you think could use it! It is free, anonymous and they can always unsubscribe.
All the best as we all try to manage the beautiful complexities that life offers us.
