Welcome to another week of the Chapter 3 Newsletter, I hope you all are enjoying the summertime season!
This week my family celebrates 6 months since Lucy was born and passed. It is an emotional time period each month when we hit the anniversary of her life here on earth.

The past few weeks I have been getting into the “Big Book” to go through a chapter that I feel inspires hope for the alcoholic and the loved ones of an alcoholic.
“Hope” was the passcode we used in the NICU with Lucy. We wanted to have to say it every day when we went to renew our badge. We wanted each of our guests to have to say it when they checked in. Sometimes, when you find yourself in the midst of an incredible struggle, you need to figure out ways to inject hope into your life.
Somewhere, back in my life, someone planted a seed in my mind that I was an alcoholic. It is important to be able to address the question head on, but better than just say it or tell someone that you believe that they might be an alcoholic, let this podcast detail what alcoholism looks like in other people’s stories and then see how that maps to your own life and struggle.

Understanding the Impact of Addiction on Brain Health
One of the aspects that I very much appreciated about the programming at Northpoint, where I went for inpatient treatment (aka rehab) was the detailed deep dive they did on the mechanisms and studies surrounding addiction and its impacts on the bodily systems. Knowledge alone will not solve your problem with alcoholism, but I think it’s a helpful addition after you have accepted that you are an alcoholic.
What is Wet Brain?
I guess we’re going with a brain related theme this week. I witnessed the impacts of wet brain in rehab. Not an experience that I want to subject myself or my loved ones to in life.
That’s it! All the best,
