Welcome to another week of the Chapter 3 Newsletter, I hope you all are enjoying the summertime season!
The next focus for the podcast and newsletter will be to try to help loved ones of the addict connect with why we behave the way that we do.
Podcast Releases
Find the podcast on your streaming platform of choice: YouTube, Apple Podcast, Spotify.
We wrapped up the month of May where we released episodes cover the five practices of maintaining a life in active recovery: Movement, Gratitude/Awe, Vision, Spiritual Connection and Community.
After all the build up the podcast is finally diving into the “Big Book” of Alcoholic’s Anonymous, starting with the chapter titled “There is a Solution”. My choice to lead with this portion of the literature is to inspire hope.
“Hope” was the passcode we used in the NICU with Lucy. We wanted to have to say it every day when we went to renew our badge. We wanted each of our guests to have to say it when they checked in. Sometimes, when you find yourself in the midst of an incredible struggle, you need to figure out ways to inject hope into your life.
Interesting (Enough) Articles
Overcoming Denial
This brief post is applicable to the addict as well as those close to an addict. I would strongly urge you not to wait for the extreme events listed in the article to take action to shake your denial, whether the addict or loved one of the addict.
Talking to Kid’s about Recovery
Not sure why this one is written specifically for men, but it applies to both sexes equally. We’ll be bookmarking this one to come back to in a few years’ time.
That’s it! All the best,
Kyle Zibrowski
