Conversation with a friend, other relationship thoughts and relapse
Welcome to another week of the Chapter 3 Newsletter, I hope you all are enjoying the summertime season!
Over the next few weeks, you all are about to get a glimpse into what it means to actually live in active recovery. So far my posts and content has largely been through rose colored glasses, but as I navigate an upsetting and difficult situation in my own life I have decided I’m going to turn it into an opportunity to actually play out how this all works. Stay tuned to see the steps in action and how I will maintain myself on the path of recovery.
If you are new here, welcome, you are not alone!

Wrapping up Chapter 2 - There is a Solution. Have you picked up on the theme yet that the solution to alcoholism and addiction is spiritual?
I sat down with my second ever guest on the podcast, Zach Hanson. Zach is a published author, podcast host, highly accomplished professional, but most of all an incredible friend. He picked me up from rehab to drive me home on June 12th. When our world turned upside down after discovering Lucy’s health concerns Zach along with his wife Ally turned into our strongest local advocates while we navigated those difficult roads. Because all of our focus turned to Lucy, Zach and I never had time to sit down and dive into my battle with alcoholism until we recorded this podcast.

Rebuilding Bridges: Reconnecting with Friends and Family After Treatment
I have seen lack of trust from family members cause alcoholics to relapse following rehab. Just assume this - none of your relationships will be the same. Ever. Be willing to work for them, but also be willing to let them go. Focus only on your continued recovery journey, and those relationships that matter will start growing and healing again. They have the potential to grow into something more meaningful and deep than you’ve ever experienced in your life, that I can promise. But do the work.
What is a Relapse Prevention Plan?
Monitor your Pillars of Recovery. Spiritual and Emotional Relapse will ALWAYS occur prior to Physical Relapse. You can have an Emotional relapse (I just did and will be detailing that in another post), but if your Spiritual Fitness is sound, there is no risk of you physically relapsing.
That’s all I’ve got! All the best,
Kyle Zibrowski
